Forum Netiquette
Welcome to our Public and Private Forums
. They really do consolidate learning and development - and personal development underpins
Professional Development.
At the beginning of each Group Coaching module
our participants are encouraged to begin the coaching journey with a good measure of humility, emotional honesty, teachability and courage; to be proactive and forgiving; to check their motives and to seek reconciliation. Hard to imagine the opposite characteristics in a coachee!!
This makes MIP Forums a safe place where courageous people can bring issues into the open, and seek support from the group and group Coach.
Access
. To access the Public Forum, you need to register with the name you would like to be called, your email, and agree to the Terms and Conditions. Go to ‘Join Now’ on the Home Page and select either Register for paid Membership or Join for free limited access. Logged-In Members have automatic Public Forum Access. Logged-In members who are doing Individual or a Group Coaching package also have access to their dedicated Forum. If Members wish to use a NickName, you are invited to click on ‘Edit my Details from your Member Dashboard, and include a NickName and Save your additional details.
Posting
. Rather than post a long detailed story, it is best to prepare your comments and questions beforehand - short, to the point, and no more than a few lines or short paragraph per question. Of course for Hope and Resilience modules, the AV teaching pages are conveniently set up with a Save and Send to Forum function. For those doing individual coaching packages, the same applies. Experience has shown that participants get most benefit when they post under six headings based on this IMPACT acronym

Our MIP community agrees to both give and take
in the forums. Asking for advice is fine, but please limit your advice giving to, “In my similar situation, I did … [this] … and it worked for me.” It is okay to suggest to someone in your group, “You might like to consider … , but please avoid words like ‘you should…’ or ;you really ought to…’ or ‘Why don’t you just strangle him?’ Don't expect an immediate answer. Don’t say anything that might reasonably be considered offensive or unhelpful. Please do not tout your expertise or your products or services. You are not permitted to promote yourself in any post. You may not solicit any MIP community member by private message or email unless we give you permission on a per-situation basis.
Don’t worry, we’ll let you know if you cross any lines.
Since there's no body language online, people often use ‘smilies’ to show their emotions, or narrate their actions. Here are some useful symbols that you may use in Forum Posts.
WB = Welcome Back {name} to someone who hasn’t posted for a while
... (elipsis) If you have more to say, but want to get part of your thoughts on screen,
end your post with ..., press SEND, then continue with your post.
BTW = By The Way
IMO = In My Opinion, based on my personal experience
AFAIR = As Far as I Remember
B4N = Bye For Now
DK = Don't Know
Here are some hard and fast rules
